ESPN 3-D
I did my poster on ESPN's foray into the 3-D television market. Many people seem to think that 3-D television is the next logical step from high definition, but I am not as excited, or impressed, with this jump as many are. ESPN will be the first of several networks that will make the jump to 3-D, debuting their new technology this June 11th for the first match of the FIFA World Cup that pits host South Africa against Mexico. ESPN seems to think this will revolutionize television, but I am skeptical. Can I really see my father and his buddies kicking back a few cold ones, sitting back and putting on a bunch of pairs of little paper glasses to watch the big game? I do not think so. So, ESPN must be banking on the very young audience to buy into this, but, with the high costs expected for 3-D compatible televisions, how many young people will be able to afford this? In the end, I think it will be a nifty little novelty that, as time goes on can be worked into regular television, but I just do not see the revolution that ESPN predicts coming to pass.

LG 42LG70 42'' HD Television
After four years of saving up, and the decline in the prices of HD televisions, one of my roommates finally decided to get a new TV. He opted for this beauty from LG, and the thing has changed the way I look at TVs. We have a projector in our main room, and it makes for great sports viewing, what with the large size of the picture, but I would watch a Purdue basketball game on this LG over our projector any day. First of all, when Purdue wears its black uniforms with black numbers, you cannot make out the numbers and figure out which players on the court on our projector. On the HD, you can make out the numbers clear as day, and you can tell whether the guy with the ball is Chris Kramer (Yay!) or Ryne Smith (Boo!). The other thing that makes it amazing is how good HD compatible video games look on this TV. I really only play football video games, but my roommates are crazy about this new war game they got, and it looks scary real. The only down side to it is when the play online, the HD can cause a bit of a lag, and cause them to lose to people they refer to as "noobs."
